Stephen Ministry

The Stephen Ministry Program offers quality, Christ-centered, confidential care to those who may be hurting in some way. Davis Memorial  members who choose to serve as Stephen Ministers receive extensive training in order to provide one-on-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others who are facing a crisis or life challenge.

Through a Stephen Ministry relationship, individuals can find hope, healing, and a new sense of self-worth. They are remembered and supported by this congregation in times of personal difficulty and receive ongoing care for continuing needs long after the onset of a crisis. Persons who are partnered with a Stephen Minister may be assured that everything shared with his or her Stephen Minister is held in strictest confidence.

Confidentiality is absolutely essential to the success of Stephen Ministry relationships. These relationships are not based on “problem solving,” but rather on listening, understanding, acceptance, caring, and prayer, which then enable the participant to find his or her own healing and wholeness.

If you think you might be in need of a Stephen Minister, please contact Carlos Baker at 817/296-5903 or carlosb@acicabling.com or Rev. Denise Luper in the church office at 817/281-0411 or denise@dmumc.com. An appointment will be set up in order to determine whether or not Stephen Ministry is the appropriate avenue of care for you. If it is decided that Stephen Ministry is a good fit, you will be matched with an available Stephen Minister and this confidential relationship will last for as long as you may need it.
